Have you ever had a discussion with family or friends about things that may or may not qualify you to spend eternity with God? Given the way that the human mind thinks, we often want to rationalize and make sense of what goes on with us, in us, and around us. It has to “add up” somehow in order for us to develop the peace of mind. So when it comes to sin; the concept is no different. We tend to try and categorize sin or make a list of bad to worst sins, or even try and say that some sins are only measured in deed and justification. Sadly enough, this sort of thinking will put a lot of people right in the seat of destruction. Any form of self-righteousness is a form of ungodliness. Self-righteousness is basically saying to God; “move over, I’m in charge here!” Self-righteousness stems from many things, but the ultimate thing is that it is rebellion against God, which in turn defines it as sin. Keeping this in mind, let’s discuss the things that we think are or are not so serious. I mean what’s the worst that can happen here…it’s only your salvation that is at stake.
